iTunes can play many types of audio files, such as music and spoken programs. You can set iTunes to open and play a file automatically whenever you play or download a file from the Internet, or open an audio file from Windows Explorer (as long as iTunes can open that type of file).
If you use Windows XP:
-
Choose Edit > Preferences.
-
Click Advanced.
-
Click the Set button next to “Use iTunes as the default player for audio files.â€
If you use Windows Vista:
-
Choose Start > Default Programs.
-
Click “Set your default programs.â€
-
In the list on the left, click iTunes.
-
Click “Set this program as defaut.â€
Even if iTunes isn’t your default audio player, you can play any audio file using iTunes by right-clicking the file and choosing Open With iTunes.
