Listening to a CD

When you insert a CD into your computer’s CD or DVD drive, it appears in the iTunes window.

Here are ways to listen to a CD (select the CD first):

  • To play a song, double-click it in the iTunes window.

  • To play the whole album, click the Play button. To play only certain songs, deselect the songs you don’t want to play (click the checkbox next to the song so that the checkmark disappears).

  • To pause a song, or to skip forward or backward to the next song, use the playback controls in the upper-left section of the iTunes window. To see commands for controlling playback, click the Controls menu.

  • To shuffle or repeat songs, use the buttons in the lower-left section of the iTunes window. For more information about a button, hover the pointer over it.

  • To view the currently playing song, click the arrow shown below or choose View > Show Current Song.

You can also import the songs from a CD into iTunes so that you don’t need to have the CD to listen to the songs on it. You can then sync your Tunes library with your iPod, iPhone or Apple TV, and share your music and video with other iTunes users on your home network.
