Enabling VoiceOver on iPod nano (5th generation)

To more easily find items on your iPod nano (5th generation), you can use VoiceOver to announce the names of songs, artists, playlists, and more.

The first time you connect your iPod nano to your computer, “Enable VoiceOver” is selected by default. If you don’t want to enable VoiceOver, deselect it. If you change your mind, you can enable VoiceOver at another time.

To enable VoiceOver on your iPod nano:

  • Connect your iPod nano to your computer.

  • In iTunes, select your iPod nano (below Devices), and then click the Summary tab.

  • Select “Enable VoiceOver” and then click Apply.

  • Follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the VoiceOver Kit.

  • Choose the primary language for VoiceOver from the pop-up menu below Voice Feedback.

Note:Foreign language song names may be announced by a different voice.

  • Click Apply.

    When syncing is complete, VoiceOver is on.

To change your VoiceOver settings:

  • In iTunes, select your iPod nano (below Devices), and then click the Summary tab.

  • Select your VoiceOver settings and click Apply.

    When syncing is complete, your new VoiceOver settings are applied.

To turn off VoiceOver:

  • In iTunes, select your iPod nano (below Devices), and then click the Summary tab.

  • Deselect all checkboxes below Voice Feedback.

  • Click Apply.

    When syncing is complete, VoiceOver is turned off.
